Working With Me
You may be hoping to have questions answered through psychological/neuropsychological assessment, or you may be wondering what it will be like to work with me in couples or individual therapy.
I will work hard to understand you as a whole person, not as a problem or diagnosis. Whether you need an assessment or are seeking therapy, I will look at the many factors affecting your unique situation.
I am committed to staying present to you, without judgment. I will seek to understand you and how best to help you. I may challenge you at times.
I consider the relationship I have with you to be very important to the process of both therapy and assessment. The relationship we build will be part of the change you hope to see.
I will seek your feedback about how the assessment or therapy is going. I will want to know how I can improve my connection and work with you. I will want to know how you are experiencing the work we do together. At times, I may use standardized forms to help us track our work together.
You may also be wondering about my credentials and where I’ve studied. I am a licensed psychologist in the State of Oregon.
I obtained my Doctorate and my Master's degrees in Clinical Psychology from George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. I also hold a bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
I have had extensive experience in psychological and neuropsychological assessment, evaluation of ADHD and learning disorders, mindfulness-based therapies (such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and depth-oriented psychotherapy. I also have advanced training in Emotion-Focused Therapy for couples.
I completed my full time APA-accredited internship at Philhaven Hospital in Mt. Gretna, PA, where I worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings with a range of ages and diagnoses in assessment, group, couples, and individual therapy.
I received specialized training in integrating spirituality and psychotherapy both at George Fox University and at Philhaven.
My postdoctoral training was completed in both Pennsylvania and Oregon, with focused training in neuropsychological assessment for children, adolescents, and adults. I currently attend a peer consultation group for neuropsychological assessment.
I am a member of the Oregon Psychological Association, the National Association for Neuropsychology, and the National Register of Health Service Psychologists.
